Six useful questionsDescribe what you need from robotic fixture loading before choosing a solution
For loading production fixtures with a robot, share the normal condition, realistic range and difficult cases the finished system must handle.
Question 1Part, Product and Process Variation for Robotic Loading of Production Fixtures
Provide part and fixture drawings, their revisions and location features, together with the allowed condition at loading. Include representative normal and difficult parts and the dimensional variation that feasibility work must address.
Question 2Arrival Pattern and Presentation
Describe how parts arrive and the presentation required at the fixture. Include difficult arrival cases and the conditions to be represented when approach, seating and release are assessed together.
Question 3Required Cycle and Production Pattern
State the required complete cycle and production pattern, supported by observations and credible extremes. Include loading, confirmation of correct location and the hand-off to the next process rather than specifying robot movement speed alone.
Question 4Tooling, Sensing and Process Interfaces
Supply details of proposed tooling, sensing and process interfaces, including how correct location must be confirmed before the next process begins. List upstream and downstream states and external dependencies, keeping assumptions separate from confirmed information.
Question 5Operator Access, Recovery and Changeover
Describe the required response to an obstructed fixture, missing part or incomplete seating. Map operator, cleaning, maintenance and changeover access, and include these recovery cases in the application assessment.
Question 6Run-Off Criteria and Production Evidence
Agree representative parts and fixture conditions, the trial method, repetitions and acceptable results for approach, seating, release and location confirmation. Specify the result record and reviewer, plus documentation, training, exclusions and controls for future changes.
